The X Factor Audition Recap - Ofisa Toleafoa Leaves The Judges In Tears With I Am Changing!

06 August 2013

After a whirlwind couple of weeks we have finally reached the last night of the audition process on The X Factor Australia!

And if we know anything about this show they have surely saved the best to last!

The night kicks off with beat-boxing, breakdancing extraordinaire Jordan Rodrigues singing Usher’s DJ Got Us Falling In Love.

While RedFoo conceded that his singing was a little rough – all four judges agreed that he added something to the competition that wasn’t there before, sending him through to bootcamp.

Following Jordan was 27-year-old Cat Vass who, with guitar in hand, took on infamous tune Unchained Melody.

Ronan said she was everything they are looking for – with all three judges voting her through to the next stage of the competition.

Five piece girl group Element, who describe themselves as a mix between Destiny’s Child and Little Mix, are next to the stage with a rousing performance of Maroon 5’s One More Night.

Despite the group saying that they don’t have a lead – Ronan quickly singled out Nada as their strongest vocal talent. It will be interesting to see how the girls run with that advice in the bootcamp stage of the competition!

After initially perplexing the judges a little, self-confessed unique soul Adam O’Brien managed to impress them with his smooth tones as he tackled Alicia Key’s Fallin’.

RedFoo called him the ‘New Zealand Marvin Gaye’ with both Ronan and Dannii loving his unpredictability! All three judges gave him a yes – sending him on to the next stage.

With his glasses on the tip of his nose RedFoo and the rest of the judges stood by a little unsure how to take Hayley Sillar’s rendition of Christina Aguilera’s Nasty Naughty Boy.

But it would seem that sex certainly does sell with the “female version of Johnny Ruffo” making it through to the next round of the comp!

The night ended with the inspirational Ofisa Toleafoa who sang Jennifer Hudson’s I Am Changing – a song he dedicated to his mum who is struggling to accept his homosexuality.

An emotional Dannii called it ‘one of her favourite auditions ever’ while RedFoo said that he “has to see more”.

With a resounding yes – Ofisa or ‘Tee’ progresses into the bootcamp stage which will kick off on Sunday!

Who was your favourite tonight?

The X-factor does little to enhance or further the talent of Western populations. Young people should visit to showcase their talent and get funded for educational purposes.
