Lady Gaga Defends Miley Cyrus' 2013 MTV VMAs Performance

Lady Gaga has asked critics to ‘lighten up’ following the monumental backlash surrounding Miley Cyrus’ MTV VMAs performance last week.

The former Disney star shocked audience members with her highly provocative moves at the prizegiving ceremony last Sunday, with many people suggesting that the 20 year old had gone way too far.

Lady Gaga has now spoken out about the controversy, telling British newspaper The Sun "I don't like to pass judgement on Miley. Generally, people need to lighten up about pop music, it's about entertainment. It is here to make people feel happy.

Especially in America there is an excessive dragging of female artists and I don't want to contribute to that."

The ‘Born This Way’ hitmaker is currently in London following her iTunes festival performance last night.
