The X Factor Australia Live Decider - Joelle Is Sent Home After RedFoo's Girls Face Off!

24 September 2013

After a one night hiatus thanks to the Brownlow Medal Count – The X Factor is back with the live decider show!

The night opened with a special performance from the newly reformed BoyZone with X Factor judge Ronan Keating reclaiming his place at the head of the 90’s boyband! They opened with new track Love Will Save The Day, before the top 8 joined the four piece for their classic hit Pictures Of You.

Before we hear the all-important results from Australia’s vote after the contestant’s rock performances on Sunday night – the night’s second musical guest arrived onstage for a unique performance!

Much hyped band Capital Cities performed their ridiculously catchy track Safe and Sound – complete with confetti, monster beards and a very enthusiastic trumpet player!

And just like that we are down to the business end of the show – with host Luke Jacobz announcing the shock news that Foo’s girls Joelle and Jiordan have to face off.

The X Factor Australia Live Show - Dami Im Rocks The Stage With The Foo Fighters Best Of You

As the girls prep for their performances – kooky US duo Karmin take to the stage to perform Acapella.

Dressed in adorable matching green outfits, the real life couple spent a lot of time and energy connecting with the fans at the front of the stage during their performance – with the audience rewarding their efforts with deafening applause.

And what was Nick’s advice to the final contestants? “Speed rap everything!”

Then it is onto Foo’s girls to duke it out – with Joelle taking the stage first singing Vanessa Carlton’s A Thousand Miles, with the singer obviously taking heed of the judges’ comments about playing to her vocal strengths.

Jiordan followed up with a passionate (but vocally shakey) version of Natalie Imbruglia’s Torn.

Ronan went with his gut and put his vote with Joelle to go home, while Nat Bass also put her vote with Joelle after saying that Jiordan had had a better run vocally throughout the show.

The all-important vote came down to Dannii – with her vote deciding if RedFoo had to make the choice between his girls.

After a speech about taking risks and making good choices about your career – Dannii also votes to send Joelle home.

And with that RedFoo is saved from making an agonising choice between his two acts – and Joelle is sent home.

Was the right choice made tonight?
