The X Factor Grand Final 2013 - Dami Im Is Crowned The Winner!

28 October 2013

Tonight opened with a dark and dramatic performance of Ke$ha’s Blow – with all of the top 12 returning to the stage for one last time.

With the stage and back up dancers looking like something out of Gaga’s twisted mind – this would have to be the best opening to a talent show we have ever seen!

Then it was time for Katy Perry to work her magic – with the stunning singer dressed in a green sequined crop top, skirt and cape. Wearing tight buns and blue lipstick Katy looked like some kind of wood nymph/glamorous sorcerous.

Performing her massive hit Roar in front of multi-coloured prisms and fireworks – with her impressive voice sailing over the excited crowd, it is easy to see why Katy is such a huge star.

When asked by Luke what advice she would give to the winner, Katy laughed ‘be prepared to fly’, adding to ‘continue to try and master your craft every time you perform’ and ‘pick up an instrument if you haven’t yet’. Pretty solid stuff!

Then it was time for the top three to perform with Fall Out Boy on their latest single Alone Together – with the band and contestants surrounded by a wall of dry ice!

Lead singer Patrick joked that it was the best the song had ever sounded, while Pete Wenz complimented Jai, Taylor and Dami on their harmonies.

An hour into the show, and not a result in sight – it is time for yet another musical guest to take to the stage with Guy Sebastian making his return to the stage.

Singing his brand new upbeat track Like A Drum with regular Carmen on back vocals – it was nice to see an Australian act onstage for the final!

Finally it was time to find out which artist would be the first to go – with Jai Waetford making a shock early exit!

Handling his exit with grace beyond his years – Jai said he would keep continuing with his music, with mentor Ronan offering to manage him!

Then it was time for Katy Perry to return to the stage to perform her new single Unconditionally – wearing a black and white cheerleading inspired outfit.

Performing in front of eight drummer boys – Katy really let rip with her soaring ballad, that she has said is dedicated to her fans.

Taylor then took to the stage to sing the song that mentor Ronan had picked as his defining moment in the competition – Avicii’s Wake Me Up.

An emotional Dannii then revealed that Dami would be singing Prince’s Purple Rain – a defining moment for the singer in show two!

Once again her performance was totally on point – but it was a little strange that the show’s producers decided to drench her in water…

Then it was finally down to the all-important decision – with Dami Im announced as the winner of the 2013 series of The X Factor Australia!

An emotional and gushing Dami then managed to pull herself together to perform her new single Alive – with a touching moment when the singer went to stand in front of her husband to sing to him.
